San Antonio Mission Trail
The city of San Antonio, Texas is replete with historic missions. You can take in some impressive examples by driving south out of the downtown area along the fairly well-marked Missions Trail, which takes you to Mission Concepcion, Mission San Jose, Mission Espada, and Mission San Juan Capistrano. Of course, the most famous mission ruin of all is the Mission San Antonio de Valero, commonly known as the Alamo. These are the hallowed halls where Texans fought and died for independence from Mexico in 1836.
The City of San Antonio is on I-35, about 80 miles southwest of Austin, in south-central Texas.
