Buddy Holly Museum
Lubbock, Texas—western cow-town and hometown of musician Buddy Holly—is also home to a terrific museum honoring one of its favoite sons. The museum is truly first-rate, with exhibits including some of Buddy's clothes, concert programs and other memorabilia, even his trademark glasses. The gift shop alone is worth the trip, with a great selection of books, CDs, clothing, and you-name it. It's a great place to spend an afternoon.
You can even pick up some literature that will help you find some local Buddy Holly-related sites scattered around town, such as a life-size statue, his old high school, and of course the cemetery where he was interred following his tragic young death in a plane crash.
The city of Lubbock is located in western Texas, about 120 miles south of Amarillo at the junction of I-27 and US routes 84 and 82.
