Canyon de Chelly

Perhaps the most famous prehistoric ruin in the Four Corners region of the U.S. is the White House ruin within Canyon de Chelly (pronounced d' SHAY). Photographers and lovers of antiquities, both great and small, have been visiting the area for generations.

The canyon, like much of the rest of the four corners, was the center of a civilization commonly called Anasazi, which populated the area long before Europeans first visited the region.

Canyon de Chelly has ruins, hiking trails, and plenty of beautiful scenery.

Canyon de Chelly National Monument is located in northeastern Arizona, near the town of Chinle (just off US 191) on the Navajo Reservation.
