Dr Pepper Bottling Plant, Dublin, Texas

People come from many miles around to see the old Dr Pepper plant in Dublin and to sample their unique product. "What's so special?" you might ask. After all, the soft drink produced here can be had almost anywhere, twenty-four hours per day. Right? —Well, not exactly.

The plant here in Dublin is unique in that it still produces Dr Pepper according to the original, age-old recipe, which calls for cane sugar as the sweetener. Nowadays, virtually all soft drinks—including the Dr Pepper at your local convenience store—are produced using corn syrup, which is a much cheaper substitute. Folks that sample the cane sugar version swear that it's the only way to go.

So take a step back in time. Dublin, Texas is in Erath County, about 11 miles southeast of Stephenville, on US 377.
