Wigwam Village, Holbrook, Arizona
Holbrook, Arizona is an old Route 66 town in the northeast part of the state. Holbrook has its share of local attractions, not least of which is its proximity to both the Petrified Forest and the Painted Desert. Holbrook has good lunch cafes and a rock shop that features dinosaur sculptures.
Also in Holbrook is a fine example of the "Wigwam Villages" that peppered the country decades ago. The sign invites you to "Sleep in a Wigwam," as well you should (even if you prefer to think of them as 'teepees').
Holbrook is on I-40 (Old Route 66) about 26 miles west of the Petrified Forest National Park.
