Shrine to Music Museum
Now comprised of literally thousands of instruments, the Shrine to Music Museum, in Vermillion, South Dakota, exists largely as a result of the passion of one man, Arne Larson. Mr. Larson's private collection, made up mostly of obsolete pieces from around the world, is the centerpiece of one of the world's largest and most varied musical collections known to exist.
Exhibits include ornate classical creations from the 17th and 18th centuries, as well as instruments fashioned from human body parts from Tibet.
