The Pigstand Drive-Ins
Those in the know say that the first drive-in restaurants were created in the 1920s by the Pig Stands, which began in Texas and spread into several states. Nowadays, the chain is in decline, with only a few Texas locations remaining. This example, in San Antonio, boasts a small but eye-catching auxiliary building of a style not much seen anymore—cartoonlike creations such as this one are now a rarity. Bon appetit!
