Wright Brothers Museum
2003 marked the centennial year of Orville and Wilbur Wright's first tentative foray into heavier-than-air flight at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. The brothers, however, operated a bicycle shop in Dayton, Ohio at the time, and actually did most of their subsequent study and experimentation in that area. The Wright Cycle Company, at 22 South Williams Street, has been converted into a museum honoring the boys' accomplishments. In fact, the Dayton area is chock-full of aviation- and Wright-related historical sites.
Dayton is in western Ohio, on Interstate 75 approximately 55 miles north of Cincinnati.
